Bharoter Deul is situated in the south east of Vadra River in Keshobpur Upazilla. It is 19 Km southwards from Jessore Sadar. This “Deul” or temple is actually a “stupa” or “mound” having 12.20 meter of height and 266 meter in periphery. In 10th January, 1923 government declared this as an archeological site. Locally it is known as “Bharat Rajar Deul”. Experts have assumed that it was built during the era of Gupta Civilization. Archeological survey department did massive excavation work from 1984 to 2001 in here. It has three parts – a T shaped structure, a brick built alter and the main temple. The upper roof of the temple has been decayed by time. After excavation 94 rooms has been found. This structure has 12 rooms extended in the outer sides and 84 rooms gradually raised towards upwards. Probably it was used as a temple and prayer hall. A 3 meter wide road surrounds this structure. This archeological site encircles an area of four square Km including the villages Bharatbhayna, Kamimpur and Gourighona. Nearly 2 Km south of Bharater Deul, there is also another archeological site in Gourighona village.
